Vincent Anderson, Jr., 36, of Lynchburg, has been charged with criminally negligent manslaughter and failure to control speed to avoid a collision in connection to the death of Silver Spring resident Maria Antonieta Perdomo nearly seven months ago.

Perdomo was days from her 78th birthday.

On Monday, March 11, police say that Perdomo was driving a Subaru Outback when she attempted to make a turn from Layhill Road onto Bel Pre Road when she was struck by a speeding Tesla - driven by Anderson - heading in the opposite direction.

At the time of the crash it was determined Anderson was traveling at approximately 77 mph when he crashed into her.

Anderson was charged late last month and accepted a plea last week. He is scheduled to be sentenced in December.
